Alternative Processes

Alternative processes are loosely defined as non-traditional or historic printing methods many of which date back to the 19th century and beginning of photography as we know it. There are many of these alternative processes such as platinum / palladium, cyanotype, vandyke, gum bichromate, salt printing and wet plate collodion to name just the ones I have experimented with. Each alternative process has it’s own often unique characteristics and in some cases involve working processes that feel somewhat alien compared to the digital world and even the traditional darkroom environments.
